Even with all the hype around negativity, be it terrorism or bad governance, Pakistanis somehow manage to produce glimpses of hope and positivity, every now and then. This time, it’s our leading journalist, Wajahat Saeed Khan. Mr. Khan has been nominated for the prestigious EMMY award this year for Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast. He was nominated for his brilliant reporting for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. Covering the sad incident of Nepal Earthquake, Wajahat Khan managed to capture the attention of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ judges and experts.
Considered to be the most distinguished American Television Awards, EMMY awards are presented to people for excellence in various sectors of American Television Industry. EMMY has a plethora of awards for different areas of television industry ranging from music to theatre, sports to engineering, news and documentary and whatnot. Award ceremonies are held in the United States throughout the year, owing to the different categories. All the EMMY’s except International EMMY are for TV shows aired and produced in the United States; International EMMYs are for international shows and productions outside of the U.S. but aired on the United States TV later on.
Wajahat has not only been known for his dazzling style, but also for his selfless journalism. Having reported from India and Afghanistan, Wajahat is one true selfless journalist with the focus primarily on conflict, security, transparency etc. He is not only a renowned journalist in Pakistan but, he is also the Pakistan’s Correspondent for NBC, an American news reporting agency. He is also the Head of National Security Desk for Dunya News, a prominent name in the news reporting in Pakistan. Moreover, Wajahat is also the Editor for The Bureau of Investigative Reporting, which uncovers transparency-related issues in Pakistan.
Having studied in the leading institutes like Harvard and University of Michigan, Wajahat Saeed Khan started his career on a high, having joined Geo News / Jang Group of Newspapers in the early 2000s. His show ‘Talk Back’ which was produced in India, made him reach the heights of fame in 2007. Later on, he produced the banned documentary on Pakistan Military, We Are Soldiers. Khan has worked for almost all the leading news networks in Pakistan like BOL, Dawn, Geo, AAJ TV and a few more. He has also worked for CNN for about one year from 2011 to 2012. He is currently working as a Correspondent for NBC News as well as an anchor for Dunya News.
